Java Architect

Katharion is seeking a highly talented Java Architect to join a growing development team. The Java Architect will be a key contributor to the introduction of the company's planned new service offerings and to the ongoing development of the company's existing software. The Java Architect will be responsible for design and/or development work related to the company's complex, high transaction, mission-critical SMTP application and associated web application. The environment is fast-paced but the company is committed to producing high quality, highly reliable managed service solutions for its customers.

Requirements

The candidate should have deep experience in Java-based server-side multi-tiered applications architecture, design and development, along with a history of successfully implementing architectural frameworks running in high volume, high availability, mission-critical environments.

The candidate should have the following background and skills:

10+ years in software development, with at least five years using Java EE related technologies
Exceptional expertise in multi-threaded server-side Java and Java NIO
Demonstrable experience designing and developing high volume and highly reliable mission critical systems
Strong knowledge of MySQL and database design principles for high transaction environments
Strong experience with Linux, ideally including experience with performance-related kernel modifications
Experience with established agile software development methodologies and with test-driven development
MS in Computer Science or equivalent
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of SMTP protocol
Experience with anti-spam and/or anti-virus technology development is desired
Experience with cryptography, Lucene, MINA, and/or Hadoop also helpful

The candidate should have a strong work ethic, an entrepreneurial spirit, and strong interpersonal skills, combining assertiveness with tact and diplomacy. He or she should be adaptable, accustomed to fast-paced environments, and truly committed to a team environment.
